On Tuesday, the Atlanta Falcons signed linebacker Josh Woods to the final spot on their 16-man practice squad. Woods was one of three linebackers to work out for the team on Friday. The 28-year-old has appeared in 65 games over the last six NFL seasons.

In 2023, Woods had the best year of his career for the Arizona Cardinals, making 61 tackles (33 solo), one forced fumble and one pass defended in seven starts. The former Mayland standout went undrafted before signing with the Chicago Bears in 2019.

Woods has played for three NFL teams, primarily contributing on special teams before last season in Arizona.

The Falcons had a practice squad opening after signing cornerback Kevin King to the active roster on Monday. King replaced linebacker Nate Landman, who was placed on the injured reserve list with a quadriceps injury.

Landman is a big loss, however, the team made it through Monday night's prime-time win over the Philadelphia Eagles relatively unscathed. "I don't think I have heard of anyone with any real issues," Falcons head coach Raheem Morris told local reporters on Tuesday.
