Ex-FSU basketball player invited to NBA Combine a week after declaring for 2024 NBA Draft
The NBA released its 78 invitees for the 2024 NBA Draft Combine on Friday. Former Florida State men's basketball star Jamir Watkins is among them.
The combine is scheduled on May 12-19 at Wintrust Arena and the Marriott Marquis in Chicago.
Watkins declared for the NBA Draft on April 25. A week later, he entered the NCAA Transfer Portal as he continued to weigh his options after one season with the Seminoles.
Watkins led the Seminoles in scoring as he averaged 15.6 points a game, six rebounds, and 2.8 assists. He received Honorable Mention All-ACC honors.
Watkins played his first three seasons at VCU before transferring to FSU last year. The New Jersey native is one of 195 prospects who filed as an early entry. Sophomore forward Baba Miller is also an early entry for the NBA Draft and is on the transfer portal.
If the 6-foot-7 guard withdrawals from the NBA Draft, he will have one year left of eligibility. The withdrawal deadline is on June 16. The NBA Draft will be on June 26-27.
