Who did the Eagles draft: Tracking every Eagles selection in 2024 NFL draft after trades
PHILADELPHIA − All eyes are on Eagles general manager Howie Roseman during the NFL draft.
Roseman has the difficult task of addressing some key positional needs, building for the future and replacing two franchise legends who retired in center Jason Kelce and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox.
And he has to do all of that while keeping the Eagles among the NFL's elite teams. The Eagles were in the Super Bowl following the 2022 season, and seemed to be headed there again last season after a 10-1 start. But the Eagles collapsed into a 1-6 finish and humbling first-round playoff exit.
ACING THE DRAFT: How Eagles ace their 2024 NFL draft picks: Examining biggest needs, best fits
Several changes were made in personnel, with top free agents like running back Saquon Barkley, edge rusher Bryce Huff and safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson signing on. There were also changes in the coaching staff as both of head coach Nick Sirianni's coordinators were fired and replaced by Kellen Moore on offense and Vic Fangio on defense.
The draft, then, gives the Eagles another opportunity to address needs for the 2024 season while continuing to build for the future. Here, then, is a look at every Eagles pick:
Eagles NFL Draft picks 2024
Round 1, No. 22: Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo
The Eagles took a cornerback in the first round for the first time since drafting Lito Sheppard in 2002. Incredibly, the Eagles didn't have to trade up to get Mitchell as none of the cornerbacks had been taken before the Eagles picked. That's because of a run of offensive players through the first 14 selections, a record.
Mitchell, who's 6-foot, 195 pounds, ran a 4.33 in the 40 yard dash. The Eagles chose Mitchell over Alabama corners Terrion Arnold and Kool Aid McKinstry, among others.
Round 2, No. 40: Cooper DeJean, DB, Iowa
trade with Washington
The Eagles traded up 10 spots to get the Hawkeyes cornerback. The Eagles are listing DeJean as a defensive back because of his versatility on the outside, inside and possibly even at safety. DeJean is coming off a fractured fibula, but at Iowa, he was Big Ten defensive back of the year, and Big Ten return specialist of the year. He played in 10 games with 2 interceptions last season.
Round 2, No. 50
from New Orleans, traded to Washington
Round 2, No. 53
traded to Washington
Round 3, Pick 78
trade with Washington, traded to Houston
Round 3, Pick 86
traded to San Francisco
Round 3, Pick 94: Jalyx Hunt, edge, Houston Christian
The Eagles ultimately made three trades to end up with Hunt, who is considered a project. Hunt began his collegiate career as a safety at Cornell before ending it as a 6-4, 252-pound edge rusher. But Hunt played at a small school, far from the limelight of college football powers. So he will need at least a year to develop. But as Eagles GM Howie Roseman put it, Hunt has "freaky tools in his body."
Round 4, No. 120
from Pittsburgh
Round 4, No. 123
from Houston
Round 4, No. 132
from San Francisco
Round 5, No. 152

Round 5, No. 161

Round 5, No. 171

Round 5, No. 172
