Who is Dylan Stewart?

Stewart is an 18-year-old true freshman defensive end at South Carolina, who has been one of the Gamecocks' best players this season.

Stewart, one of the most talented players in the 2024 recruiting class, was a five-star recruit, rated the No. 15 overall player and No. 1 edge rusher nationally, according to 247Sports' Composite rankings. The Friendship Collegiate Academy product from Washington D.C. was the Gamecocks' highest-rated recruit in 2024 and their sixth-best recruit of all time.

Stewart has already been electric through his first two collegiate games, with six total tackles (2.5 for loss), with 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He also has nine quarterback pressures, which ranks second in the SEC.

The 6-foot-5 defensive end was instantly an impact player, as he forced a fumble in South Carolina's Week 1 win over Old Dominion that ultimately helped the Gamecocks avoid an upset loss. Facing a 19-16 deficit late in the fourth quarter, Stewart chased after Old Dominion's scrambling quarterback and punched the ball out, giving South Carolina the ball deep in its opponent's territory, leading to a game-winning touchdown.

Stewart also made some freakish plays against Kentucky in Week 2, even beating a triple team for the quarterback hurry, which led to Wildcats quarterback Brock Vandagriff just barely able to throw the ball away.
