Dolphins Pro Bowl tackle Terron Armstead discusses decision on whether to return in 2024

ORLANDO — Terron Armstead hasn’t decided whether he’s going to retire or return to the Dolphins in 2024. But he isn’t going to keep everybody hanging.

Speaking at the AFC practice Friday, Armstead, a left tackle and the only offensive lineman on the Dolphins to make Pro Bowl honors, said in the three weeks since the season ended, he has focused on letting his body heal from the multiple injuries endured in 2023.

“I’ve just been resting and recovering and enjoying the family, really,” he said. “I haven’t thought much football or did any deep thinking.”

Armstead, who turns 33 in July, made the Pro Bowl for the fifth time despite missing seven games. He said his body is “getting better for sure.”

Armstead has three years remaining on his contract. Asked if he’s leaning in either direction or what he’d do if he had to decide now, Armstead smiled and said: “I don’t, though. You know what I mean?”

Armstead added that the Dolphins haven’t given him a timeline, although it clearly would be in the Dolphins’ best interest to know whether they’ll have their starting left tackle back before free agency and the draft.

“They haven’t,” Armstead said of a deadline. “But like I said, I’m not going to prolong the process at all. I’m just taking time to get away from the game and let my body heal — and then.”
