Tua Tagovailoa got paid Friday, signing a long-term contract to stay the Miami Dolphins quarterback for the foreseeable future.
The Dolphins and Tagovailoa agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $212.4 million, according to multiple reports. The deal keeps the No. 5 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft with the Dolphins through the 2028 season.
The Alabama product's new deal includes $167 million in guaranteed money. The deal pays him $53.1 million in average annual value, the fourth most among all players in the NFL. Only Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and the Jacksonville Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence are paid more per year, with the Green Bay Packers' Jordan Love joining that group later Friday.
