How did we grade Carson Beck and the Georgia football offense?
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Georgia football began its home stretch of its final five regular-season games with a 34-20 victory over Florida Saturday.
It marked the 15th straight November win for the Bulldogs dating back to a loss to Florida on Nov. 7, 2020.
Next up is a game at Ole Miss next Saturday.
Here’s how we graded the Bulldogs after a fourth straight win over Florida:
Offense: C+
This grade is probably weighed down by Carson Beck’s three interceptions. Georgia rushed for 146 yards despite losing top rusher Trevor Etienne due to injury. Nate Frazier rushed for 82 yards.
Defense: B
Florida was held to 228 yards, but the Bulldogs faced a walk-on QB after DJ Lagway was injured. The secondary gave up a 43-yard touchdown pass but forced four 3-and-outs in the second half and got an interception.
Special Teams: B
With kick and punt returner Anthony Evans sidelined with a hamstring injury, Malaki Starks averaged 7 yards on three punt returns. He fair caught one inside the 15 with nobody bearing down on him. Brett Thorson’s 47-yard punt pinned the Gators at their own 6. Peyton Woodring went 2-for-2 on field goals.
Coaching: B-
This was another closer-than-it-needed-to-be game for Georgia, and the staff has to find a way to limit Beck’s turnovers. Dwight Phillips’ touchdown run late was a nice added wrinkle by the offensive coaches.
Overall: B-
Beating your rival for a fourth straight time is what Georgia came to Jacksonville to do, and it did. Georgia had five penalties for minus-48 yards, including Frazier’s that came after a 2-yard touchdown run for a throat slash.
