Devin Booker, Kevin Durant could reach Suns, NBA scoring milestones in 2024-25 season

Devin Booker and Kevin Durant are closing in on milestones on the Phoenix Suns' and NBA all-time scoring lists this season.

Prior to the Suns' opening game Wednesday, Booker was 1,137 points away from tying Walter Davis' 15,666 for No. 1 in franchise history. The late Davis, who was inducted to the Naismith Hall Of Fame earlier this month, played the first 11 of his 15 seasons in Phoenix before he retired in 1992. He was a shooting guard like Booker.

Booker, now in his 10th season, all in Phoenix since he was drafted as a one-and-done out of Kentucky, has a career average 24.3 points per game. He produced about 27 per game the past three seasons. If Booker continues averaging at that rate, he can match Davis in about 42 games played. Booker also is the Suns' all-time leader in both 3s made and 3s attempted.

Prior to opening night on Wednesday, the 18-year veteran Durant was 1,076 points shy of the 30,000-career point mark. There are just seven players in league history who've gotten there, including Wilt Chamberlain, Dirk Nowitzki, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and LeBron James, the all-time scoring leader and only player ever to surpass 40,000.

Durant has a 27.3 career scoring average, and nearly matched that last season. If Durant maintains that this season, he'll get to the 30,000 mark within 40 games played.

He moved up to become the No. 8 all-time leading scorer last season, breezing past Elvin Hayes, Moses Malone, Carmelo Anthony and Shaquille O'Neal.
