Detroit Lions C Frank Ragnow pulls out of Pro Bowl to rest and 'figure everything out'
Another Detroit Lion has pulled out of the Pro Bowl games.
Lions center Frank Ragnow will not take part in the NFL's all-star event this week after playing through a slew of injuries this season.
Ragnow said Monday he needed some time away this offseason to rest his body and "figure everything out."
Just 27, Ragnow has battled a slew of injuries in recent years. He's played three seasons with a chronic toe injury that's inoperable and was listed on the injury report at various times this season with back, knee, ankle and toe pains. Ragnow did not miss a snap in last week's NFC championship game loss to the San Francisco 49ers despite spraining his knee one week earlier in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"It takes a toll on you," Ragnow said. "It really takes a toll on you, so I need to find a way to get back to Frank and I don’t regret any of this at all, but it weighs on you and I’m just going to take some time and really figure everything out to make sure that I’m feeling good, not only for me the football player but for me to be the best husband and best father and everything with that as well."
The Lions routinely gave Ragnow one day off of practice a week.

New Orleans Saints center Eric McCoy will take Ragnow's place on the Pro Bowl roster.
The Lions had five players selected to the Pro Bowl on the original ballot: Ragnow, right tackle Penei Sewell, tight end Sam LaPorta, defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and special teams player Jalen Reeves-Maybin.
Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and running back Jahmyr Gibbs were added to the team as alternates Monday, and Reeves-Maybin pulled out after suffering a groin injury against the 49ers.
