Changes to the offensive scheme is the biggest ongoing storyline surrounding the New Orleans Saints this offseason. As they have transitioned to training camp, we've been able to truly see players attempt to grasp the offense and put it into action.

Dennis Allen was asked about the progress the team has made in picking up Klint Kubiak's system. Allen said that "happy would be the right word, but satisfied would not be the right word."

This is a positive. His lack of satisfaction is purely about always pushing and striving for more. Allen went on to say he wants to continuously put more on the player's plate to see "how much they can handle." It's an ongoing process and not an indictment of where he feels they are currently.

Allen specifically noted that Derek Carr performed well during the two minute drill. He thought there was strong communication during that period of practice. Allen, like everyone else, knows Carr's performance will have a heavy impact on offensive production in 2024.

The offense has had bounce back performances in recent practices after a string of defensive domination. This is what you want to see from practice. A back and forth affair is significantly more promising than a domination by one side of the ball.

This has slightly alleviated the level of concerns about the offense. For example, you may be less concerned about the offensive line but you know there are still concerns there.
