Today is Nov. 15, 2024. And on this date in Texas history, the path to a national championship for the Longhorns included a blowout win over TCU.
In its final home game of the 1969 season, Texas recorded a 69-7 rout of the Horned Frogs. Jim Bertelsen's 104 yards led the UT rushing attack, and eight different Longhorns scored a touchdown as TCU only scored on a second-quarter punt return.
This 62-point win ended up being the most-lopsided victory during UT's undefeated season. Texas beat Texas A&M by 37 points in its next game before closing out its championship run with 15-14 and 21-17 wins over Arkansas and Notre Dame.
