Columbus Crew upcoming regular-season match rescheduled for possible Leagues Cup final

The Crew and Philadelphia Union are set to face off in the Leagues Cup semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lower.com Field. But their upcoming regular-season matchup, originally scheduled for Saturday in Philadelphia, has been rescheduled to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28.

With both teams making the semifinals of Leagues Cup, Columbus and Philadelphia will be playing in either the tournament final or third-place match on Sunday. This ultimately led to the decision to move the regular-season game back.

This is the second time this year that the Crew have had to reschedule a regular-season match for a tournament final.

During a CONCACAF Champions Cup run, the club pushed back games with the Seattle Sounders and New England Revolution toward the end of the season. Both those matches have still yet to be played, as they set for September and October, respectively.

Columbus advanced to the semifinals in the Leagues Cup tournament with a 4-3 victory over New York City FC in penalty kicks on Saturday.
