Columbus Crew send forward Marino Hinestroza to Colombia's Atletico Nacional via loan

Crew forward Marino Hinestroza is heading to Atletico Nacional via a loan from Columbus, the club announced on Friday.

It was reported over a week ago that the Crew were in the stages of finalizing a deal with Atletico that would allow Hinestroza to play in his native country of Colombia. The deal includes a purchase option for Atletico, which would allow Atletico to sign Hinestroza to an official transfer at the end of the loan period for an undisclosed amount.

Crew forward Marino Hinestroza has appeared in 16 games this season, four as a starter, and has scored two goals in regular-season play.

Hinestroza signed a three-year deal with the Crew this past offseason and is making $500,000 this season. He previously played for CF Pachuca.

Since joining Columbus, the 22-year-old has struggled to break into the starting lineup, with teammates Christian Ramirez and Alex Matan getting more minutes as starters alongside Cucho Hernandez and Diego Rossi on the frontline.
