College GameDay turned a marriage proposal into a hilarious TV sequence (Video)
In recent years, marriage proposals have become a (far too) regular feature at sports games. They’ve even spread to sports TV shows tangentially related to the games themselves. They used to be must-see moments and social media fodder. Now they’re cute, sometimes awkward non-events …
Unless, that is, ESPN turns them into hilarious TV sequences, like it did Saturday on “College GameDay.”
The network’s traveling studio show was in Happy Valley for Ohio State-Penn State. Midway through, a Penn State fan got cameras to capture him dropping to one knee:

But watch that clip until the very end. A clever producer had the perfect follow-up shot lined up:
Coincidental? We think not.
This is intentional. It’s brilliant. Beautiful. Ironic. Iconic. Perhaps slightly awkward for the newly-engaged couple when they go back and watch the tape. But oh well.
And the Gritty photobomb completes its perfection.
Thank you, ESPN producers and cameramen, for giving us one of the best TV moments of the college football season thus far.
