CLEVELAND — At least to this extent, the Guardians are dealing with their first extended slump of the 2024 season after dropping three consecutive games and seven of their last nine entering Tuesday night.

After Monday night's loss to the Detroit Tigers, veteran catcher Austin Hedges detailed what the Guardians need to do to get back on track.

With the rotation in flux, Xzavion Curry takes the mound for the Guardians Tuesday night as an offense that has hit a speed bump looks to get back on track.

Guardians beat the Tigers, snap losing streak

The Guardians have snapped their three-game skid with a 5-4 win over the Detroit Tigers. Emmanuel Clase earned the one-run save in the ninth with a 1-2-3 inning.

Scott Barlow finishes eighth inning after Jose Ramirez mishap

Jose Ramirez had a rare miscue defensively at third base, as he dropped an easy fly ball in shallow left field. Though, he was able to recover and get the force out at second base to erase the mistake.

From there, Scott Barlow was able to finish the inning, and the Guardians will bat in the eighth with a 5-4 lead and Emmanuel Clase warming up for the potential save chance in the bullpen.

Tigers cut into Guardians lead against Hunter Gaddis

Hunter Gaddis entered the game in a tough situation, and the Tigers have made it a 5-4 score.

Gaddis entered with two runners in scoring position. First, Jake Rogers narrowly missed a three-run home run but had to settle for a sacrifice fly. The Guardians then gave away a run. With runners on the corners, Gaddis tried a pick-off attempt to first base. The ball got away from Naylor a bit, and Zack McKinstry used that opportunity to steal home, cutting the Guardians' lead to one run.

Guardians extend lead against Tigers bullpen in sixth inning

Tyler Freeman opened the sixth inning with a walk and was followed by Daniel Schneemann, who singled back up the middle.

After Steven Kwan advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt, Angel Martinez brought home run with a sacrifice fly and Jose Ramirez singled home another to make it 5-2.

Jose Ramirez home run gives the Guardians the lead over Tigers in the fifth inning

The Guardians are peppering the Home Run Porch tonight.

Jose Ramirez followed Noel's home run in the fourth with a solo shot of his own in the fifth, and the Guardians have retaken a 3-2 lead.

That is Ramirez's 240th career home run as he continues to chase down some of the biggest names in Cleveland baseball history.

Xzavion Curry exits game; Guardians and Tigers score remains tied

Xzavion Curry's day is done in the fifth after a Jake Rogers double off the left-field wall has put the potential go-ahead run at second base.

Cade Smith replaced Curry and on six pitches was able to escape the inning with the sore still tied.

Jhonskey Noel home run ties Guardians-Tigers score

Big Christmas needed one pitch to tie it back up.

Jhonkensy Noel took the first pitch he saw from Faedo and launched it to the Home Run Porch down the left-field line to tie it 2-2. That's his fourth homer since being called up.

Guardians, Tigers score update: Wenceel Perez home run puts Detroit on top

Wenceel Perez crushed a two-run home run in response to Kwan's homer, and the Tigers have taken their first lead of the night, 2-1, in the fourth inning.

Steven Kwan home run gives Guardians lead over Tigers

Steven Kwan has reached double-digit home runs in a single season for the first time in his career, and it's only July 23.

Kwan drilled a solo shot off of Tigers reliever Alex Faedo in the third inning, his 10th of the season, to give the Guardians a 1-0 lead.
