Former Clemson football running back C.J. Spiller headlines 2024 ring of honor class

CLEMSON — Clemson athletics announced Monday that former running back and current Tigers running backs coach C.J. Spiller will be inducted into the Clemson ring of honor this fall.

Spiller spent four seasons with the Tigers, playing from 2006 through 2009. He earned ACC player of the year and All-America honors at running back and kick returner in 2009. He tied the NCAA record for career kickoff return touchdowns (seven) and logged 7,588 career all-purpose yards, which rank third in NCAA history, with 50 touchdowns.

The Florida native was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2021 in only his second year of eligibility. He joined coach Dabo Swinney's staff in 2021. Spiller will become the eighth former football player to be inducted into the ring of honor, joining Banks McFadden, Steve Fuller, Jeff Davis, Fred Cone, Jerry Butler, Terry Kinard and Levon Kirkland.

Track runner Kim Graham-Miller, who was a 15-time ACC champion (including relays), the most of any track athlete in Clemson history, will be inducted in the ring of honor, too. She was named one of the top 50 female athletes in ACC history in 2002, becoming one of just six Clemson athletes selected.

The ring of honor is the highest award Clemson athletics can give. To qualify, recipients must have made an outstanding contribution to the heritage of Clemson athletics, must be a member of the Clemson athletic Hall of Fame and a graduate of a four-year institution.
