Clemson football OL Elyjah Thurmon to miss rest of season after first-play injury vs Pitt
This article has been updated to include new information on Elyjah Thurmon's injury.
PITTSBURGH — On the first snap of the game, Clemson football lost starting left tackle Elyjah Thurmon in Saturday's game vs. Pitt.
Running back Phil Mafah rushed for six yards, but Thurmon, a freshman, could not get up. Clemson trainers helped Thurmon off the field, and he could not put any pressure on his left leg. Thurmon replaced Tristan Leigh at left tackle on Saturday and filled in for him last week against Virginia Tech to allow no sacks.
Trent Howard entered to replace Thurmon.
This was a terrible start for Clemson as it is without starting offensive linemen Leigh and Marcus Tate. Howard, a fifth-year player, has played in seven games this season, and Thurmon's injury changed the look of the Tigers' offensive line.
Blake Miller moved from right tackle to left tackle, Walker Parks went from right guard to right tackle, Harris Sewell moved from right guard to left guard and Howard entered at left guard. Ryan Linthicum remained at center.

No. 16 Clemson (7-2, 6-1 ACC) turned over the ball on the first drive but responded with a touchdown in the first quarter vs. Pitt (7-2, 3-2).
