Clemson football injury report vs Virginia Tech: DL Peter Woods out
BLACKSBURG, Va. — Clemson football defensive lineman Peter Woods is out for Saturday's game vs. Virginia Tech.
Woods is not on the team's travel roster. He was not seen working out with the other defensive lineman pregame. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Wednesday that Woods was hit in the head on a kick-out block against Louisville last week. Swinney said he was "day to day" entering Saturday's game and ultimately did not make the trip.
This will be Woods' third missed game this season. He missed two games earlier this season after suffering a lower-body injury from a chop block against Appalachian State in Week 2. Through seven games, he has 14 tackles, 5.5 for loss including one sack, and one forced fumble.
Other Clemson players who are not on the travel roster are defensive lineman DeMonte Capehart, cornerback Shelton Lewis, wide receiver Tyler Brown and offensive lineman Collin Sadler.
The good news for the Tigers is defensive lineman Tré Williams is back after suffering an injury last week.
No. 17 Clemson (6-2, 5-1 ACC) faces the Hokies (5-4, 3-2) on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN) at Lane Stadium.
