CLEMSON — Clemson baseball plays No. 3 seed Coastal Carolina Sunday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in the NCAA Tournament.

The top-seeded Tigers (43-14), who earned the No. 6 overall seed in the 64-team tournament and the top seed in the Clemson Regional, are 2-0 in the tournament. They defeated the Chanticleers 4-3 Saturday thanks to Cam Cannarella's go-ahead RBI sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.

If Clemson wins, the Tigers advance to the super regional.

Clemson is back in the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers take care of Coastal Carolina with six runs of insurance in the eighth inning and a solid performance by starting pitcher Ethan Darden.

The Tigers await the Stillwater Regional winner, either Oklahoma State or Florida. Oklahoma State leads Florida 1-0 in the third inning; the Gators must win twice over the Cowboys to advance. Either way, Clemson will host next weekend.

Coastal Carolina coach Gary Gilmore has now coached his final game, and salute to him. The 2016 national championship was a remarkable feat in the history of college sports in this state.

Clemson 12, Coastal Carolina 5, bottom 8th: Jacob Hinderleider 2-run double

Jacob Hinderleider hits a 2-run double that bounces high off the third-base bag that was probably destined for the left field corner anyway.

Hinderleider is 3-for-5 with 3 RBI, a run scored and a walk today. The good vibes have been restored inside Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

Clemson's offense has come alive to break the game open after the Coastal homers in the top of the eighth inning.

Clemson is three outs from hosting a Super Regional.

Clemson has its big hit, with Alden Mathes hitting a 2-run double into the right-center gap with the bases loaded. Still one out and two runners in scoring position for Jacob Hinderleider.

Clemson 8, Coastal Carolina 5, bottom 8th: Jack Crighton RBI single

With the infield in, Jack Crighton hits a chopper that bounces over the Coastal shortstop for a RBI single. Clemson now has runners on the corners with nobody out.

Clemson 7, Coastal Carolina 5, bottom 8th: Cam Cannarella adds big run with solo HR

Cam Cannarella ;leads off the Clemson 8th with a solo home run for some insurance. That could be crucial.

Jimmy Obertop then reaches on an error by the pitcher. On the next at-bat, Tristan Bissetta hits a double past the Coastal right fielder, and two runners are in scoring position with nobody out.

Clemson 6, Coastal Carolina 5, top 8th: Back-to-back HRs for Coastal

Caden Bodine hits a two-run home run to right field, and Derek Bender follows it up with a solo home run. It's a 6-5 lead for Clemson.

Those 12 LOB by the Tigers loom very, very large right now. Austin Gordon will come in to pitch for the third consecutive day.

Gordon strikes out Blake Barthol to end the inning. He'll need to throw a four-out save in his third straight day of work.

Jarren Purify makes the catch on a line drive and throws out the runner at first to end the inning. The seldom-seen 4-3 double play. Clemson has played well today, but Coastal has made a lot of mistakes to help the Tigers out.

The Tigers' offense continues to leave runners on base. Clemson adds another run on a bases-loaded walk by Nolan Nawrocki, but Jarren Purify hits a sharp line-drive right at the Coastal 3B and Alden Mathes hits a long out to right field.

Noisy, yes. Baserunners, yes. But the door is still unlocked for Coastal after five innings. Seven LOB for Clemson through five.

Ethan Darden's day is done after a two-out RBI single by Sam Antonacci. Darden goes 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Reed Garris will come on to pitch with a runner on second base and two out.

Garris gets a strikeout to end the inning.

The Chanticleers have a lot of work to do, and Ethan Darden has been getting stronger throughout his outing so far.

Jimmy Obertop cracks a solo home run to center to extend Clemson's lead to 4-1. It is the Tigers' first home run of the regional.

Coastal Carolina gets a run back in the second inning on a Zack Beach RBI single, but the Tigers get out of a jam with runners on second and third with nobody out via a groundout and a hidden ball trick. A grounder later, Clemson is out of the second inning with a 2-1 lead.

Clemson has yet to get the big inning in this regional, but the Tigers will take this start. After a leadoff HBP and a walk, Blake Wright drives in Alden Mathes. Jimmy Obertop drives in another run on a RBI fielders choice. 2-0 Clemson after one.

Coastal leads off with a walk and a HBP against Clemson starter Ethan Darden. After a mound visit, Darden produces a double play on a Caden Bodine grounder and Derek Bender ground out to end the Coastal 1st.
