Cincinnati Bearcats basketball misses out on 4-star recruit Davion Hannah

Cincinnati Bearcats head basketball coach Wes Miller just missed on a banner recruiting week as four-star Davion Hannah bypassed UC for Alabama on Friday. Hannah is the No. 37 prospect in the nation.

Hannah, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard had visited UC and had the Bearcats on his "last four" along with the Tide, Missouri and Ohio State. Hannah was in town in early October.

In the end, Alabama and Nate Oats won this one. The Crimson Tide is No. 10 in the latest KenPom.com ratings, with the Bearcats at No. 13. Just two years ago, UC beat out Alabama and Connecticut for the services of current freshman Tyler Betsey, so UC remains in the game for marquees players.

If you're a UC fan, you celebrate the signing of 4-star point guard Keyshuan Tillery on Tuesday and you can bet if there's an attractive addition to the roster, Miller's men are in the market. As NHL Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky's father once told him, "You miss 100% of the shots of the shots you don't take".

Who's next?

One possibility may be 6-foot-8 four-star Shon Abaev, ranked as the No. 29 player in the nation by 247Sports.com. Auburn, Arizona State, Arkansas and Oregon are also on Abaev's "top five" in addition to the Bearcats.

Abaev was averaging 31.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds for his Overtime Elite team.
