Christian McCaffrey reportedly will play on Monday night despite oblique injury

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey dealt with injuries and missed most of the season in 2020 and 2021, and he started to get a bit of a reputation as being injury prone. McCaffrey has actually been quite durable, especially given his workload at running back.

McCaffrey left last week's game with an oblique injury but it won't keep him out. McCaffrey will play on Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

That isn't a big surprise. Though McCaffrey missed some practice time last week, he was limited in Saturday's practice and listed as questionable. That was a sign he'd play. McCaffrey didn't miss a game due to injury in his first three NFL seasons or last season, and he clearly wants to get through another season without missing a game.

McCaffrey has a streak on the line. He has scored a touchdown in 15 straight games, two short of Lenny Moore's NFL record. He's a good bet to score again against a mediocre Vikings defense.

The only question is whether McCaffrey will be at full strength. Fox's Jay Glazer said McCaffrey has a slight tear in his oblique, and while he's a tough player, perhaps he'll be a bit limited with the injury.

Regardless of how much workload McCaffrey is able to handle, he'll be in the lineup. That's great news for the 49ers.
