Jones missed the third day of padded training camp practice on Sunday due to a groin strain, according to head coach Andy Reid.
Travis Kelce used offseason to recover from “taxing” 2023 season
At the beginning of camp, Jones joked about asking Reid, general manager Brett Veach, and chairman/CEO Clark Hunt about getting some days off.
“I just hope that [Reid] finds it in his amazing heart to give me a day or two off coming up,” Jones jokingly said last Sunday. “We’ll talk about it, have further conversations. Maybe I need to have a one-on-one with Veach, talk to my guy Clark.”
Reid heard the jokes but was adamant that Jones had an injury that forced him out of the strenuous, two-hour Sunday practice.
It was also the highest amount of plays that the team had practiced so far in training camp.

“I know he was messing with you guys, but he does have a groin {injury],” Reid said. “We all have groins but he has a sore groin.”
Cornerback Nazeeh Johnson also sat out of practice with a knee/hamstring injury on his right leg. Last season, he had torn his ACL in the same right leg during training camp.
Reid said Johnson would be fine.
“You go through those things,” Reid said. “He’s strong, his leg’s strong, his knee is solid, all that so he’ll be fine.”
Wide receiver Justin Watson (left foot), left guard Joe Thuney (pec), CB Jaylen Watson (shoulder), defensive end Charles Omenihu (knee), and DT Derrick Nnadi also missed practice and instead focused on rehabbing their injuries.
DTs Neil Farrell and Fabien Lovett have filled in with good run defense reps for the second-team defense, as Mike Pennel and Tershawn Wharton took the first-team reps.
