BATON ROUGE — The wait is over.

No. 7 LSU women's basketball team tips off the 2024-25 season against Eastern Kentucky inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Monday night.

The Tigers are embarking on Kim Mulkey's fourth season as head coach and like most other years, there's been some roster turnaround and new faces and names to learn for LSU.

But there's still plenty of firepower for the Tigers as junior star Flau'jae Johnson and senior forward Aneesah Morrow return to lead the new-look group of Tigers into the 2024-25. Both were voted preseason All-SEC co-Players of the Year along with Texas' Madison Booker.

Sophomore sensation Mikaylah Williams will be a part of what Mulkey and LSU want to do offensively, but the expectation is she'll pick up more responsibility on the defensive end of the floor as well after here SEC Freshman of the Year performance last season.

Eastern Kentucky enters Monday night's game off a program-best 20-win season in 2023-24 and the team's first WNIT appearance since 2002. Returning senior guard Alice Recanti leads EKU in assists leads the way for the Colonels along with other returning starts guard Kaitlyn Costner and forward Jasmine McGinnis-Taylor.

EKU has lost all 41 previous meetings against top 25-ranked teams.
