The Georgia Bulldogs are coming off an unconvincing 34-20 win over the Florida Gators. Georgia is atop the SEC standings, but still has several tests ahead of the next few weeks.

Barring a collapse, Georgia's path to the College Football Playoff is relatively clear. The Bulldogs need to beat Tennessee or Ole Miss and win their other games in order to secure a berth in the playoff. Of course, Georgia will try to win the SEC to earn a first-round bye in the expanded playoff.

Georgia football College Football Playoffs projection

We project Georgia to be ranked No. 2 in the initial playoff rankings behind the undefeated Oregon Ducks. We think Georgia will be ranked over Ohio State because Georgia has played a much tougher schedule.

UGA has ranked wins over Texas and Clemson. Ohio State is just 4-1 against Power Four opponents, while Georgia is 6-1. We don't envision the committee being able to overlook this even though Georgia has been involved in several close games.

The only other team the committee may consider over Georgia is Miami, who has not played a ranked opponent all season.
