CB West dominates in win over Pennsbury in Week 7 of Bucks County high school football

FAIRLESS HILLS — Central Bucks West put on a display of old-school football Friday night with impressive results. Noah Miller threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Central Bucks West bested Pennsbury 27-6 Friday night at Falcon Field.

Ryan Clemens and Gavin Todd caught scoring passes as the Bucks built a 24-0 halftime advantage en route to their fifth win of the season in seven starts (3-1 in SOL National).

West coach Rob Rowan was impressed with his team’s energy level.

“Our guys came out from Play One,” he said. “Just the energy and the execution that they had.“

Todd scored the game’s first touchdown on a 29-yard reception with 9:39 left in the first half. The junior spoke to his team’s efficiency moving the football on the ground.

“That’s our staple,” he said. “Every day in practice, we just continuously hit, hit, hit. We’re the toughest team out there because of it.”

Veteran right tackle Finn McGowan fills a key role on the Bucks’ offensive line.

“We play every play like six seconds,” he said. “We play six seconds at a time; every play is an average of six seconds, so every play we’ve got to lock in, put our heads in there, and execute. That’s what it comes down to.”

The Falcons got on the scoreboard when Jordan Brensinger scored from five yards out 47 seconds into the fourth quarter.

“They outplayed us,” said Pennsbury coach Galen Snyder. “Give them credit.”

The Bucks improved to 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.

Ryan Clemens and Gavin Todd caught scoring passes for West, which built a 24-0 halftime lead. Clemens added two field goals.

What it means for Central Bucks West

The Bucks have won three of their last four games and have strengthened their hold on a District One playoff spot as they enter the stretch run of the regular season.

What it means for Pennsbury

The Falcons have lost three of their last four games and find themselves in a precarious position for the postseason. They’ll need a quick turnaround before traveling to North Penn on Thursday night.

Key plays

Miller connected with Clemens up the middle on a 77-yard catch and run to put the Bucks up 17-0 with 4:14 left in the first half. Pennsbury fumbled the ensuing kickoff and the Bucks were in business at the Falcon 27-yard line. Seven plays later Miller went in from four yards out to extend his team’s lead with one minute left in the half.

By the numbers

Miller was 5-of-10 through the air for 156 yards. Clemens ran for 67 yards and added two field goal, each of 33 yards.

“Any time you have experience at any position, it’s a bonus, but specifically up front in the trenches, when you’ve got to make adjustments on a week-to-week basis depending on what fronts we’re getting," said West coach Rob Rowan. “Defenses throw a lot of different stuff at us so we’ve got to be able to adjust on the fly."

The Bucks (5-2) will visit old Bux-Mont League rival Pennridge (4-3) next Saturday night.
