Caitlin Clark scores 30 points in her collegiate finale as Iowa loses to South Carolina
Caitlin Clark's collegiate career at Iowa came to a crashing end Sunday afternoon in an 87-75 loss to South Carolina in the national championship game.
Clark, the all-time leading scorer in the college game, scored a game-high 30 points. She finishes her career with 3,951.
Clark went 5-of-13 from 3-point land and scored 18 points in the first quarter. That pushed her past former Tennessee standout Chamique Holdsclaw for the most points scored in an NCAA Tournament. She finished with 492 in 17 career tournament games.
"When she feels it, she feels it," Iowa coach Lisa Bluder said between periods.
Holdsclaw won three straight NCAA championships with the Vols in 1996, '97 and '98 and, like Clark, was a two-time national player of the year.
Clark, who declared for the WNBA draft in February, is expected to be taken with the No. 1 pick by the Indiana Fever. The draft is April 15 in New York.
