The Butt Snap is a worthy challenger to the Butt Fumble

The Colts’ Sunday afternoon has gone from bad to embarrassing in a short amount of time. A potentially crucial injury and a horrific mistake will stain their day and they both happened before halftime.

This week’s NFL lowlight will be shown for years to come. It wasn’t bad enough that center Ryan Kelly caused a fumble by snapping the ball into his own rear end, but Indianapolis was already backed up to its own goal line before the play. The fumble bounced into the end zone where the Houston Texans were able to pounce on it for one of the easiest touchdowns they’ll score all season.

That’s Jadeveon Clowney recovering the ball for a quick six points right there. It might be the least effort for the most reward he ever puts forth on a football field.

Call it the Butt Snap or Butt Score, but it’s one of the best challengers to the King of Embarrassing Plays that is Mark Sanchez’s Butt Fumble. Granted, only one player had to screw up here for the whole play to fall apart — as opposed to New York and Sanchez going Full Jets on the Butt Fumble — but the indefensibleness of the bad snap plus the need to be extra careful around your own end zone gives the Colts the edge here.

If that weren’t bad enough, the Indianapolis offense already took a big hit on Sunday when wideout T.Y. Hilton took a hard hit early in the game and is most certainly going to have to play through pain for the rest of the day.

Hilton returned to the field in the second quarter, but just how effective he’ll be remains to be seen.

Still, even if the Colts pull off a victory against the Texans, Sunday will be known for just one thing: The Butt Snap.
