Bucks guard Ryan Rollins exits game vs. Raptors with injury

One of the Milwaukee Bucks' few feel-good stories in the young season has been 22-year-old point guard Ryan Rollins, who was signed to a two-way contract over the summer but had worked his way into the rotation the last few games.

With all-star guard Damian Lillard out against the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, Rollins earned his first career start.

"I was excited," Rollins said after the game. "It was the opportunity of a lifetime, so I just had to take advantage of it for sure."

Though he started just 1 for 7 from the floor in the first quarter, he made an impact defensively with five steals and scored 12 points before he reinjured a bruised left shoulder late in the third quarter.

After he made his fourth, three-pointer of the night he was clearly favoring the shoulder and headed right to the locker room after he was subbed out. He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the night with instability in that shoulder.

"That's like the story of my life," he said with a sheepish grin after the game. "It's always something. I mean, I can't complain about it. I'm going to just keep working, keep getting better. It's not really a serious injury, so I'll be back next game anyways. It is always something for me but I'll always work through it regardless."

He told the Journal Sentinel the shoulder felt a bit "crunchy" prior to the Bucks' loss to Boston on Saturday after absorbing several hard screens in games against Cleveland, but he was playing through the issue.

Rollins was originally a second-round draft pick of the Atlanta Hawks in 2022 and played 12 games for Golden State that season and 10 for Washington in 2023-24 before signing his first two-way deal with the Bucks and Wisconsin Herd.
