Bruins Forward Could Become Trade Chip
Bruins forward Morgan Geekie has had a tough start to the 2024-25 season. He has two assists to go along with a minus-4 rating in his first 11 games. He also has been healthy scratched multiple times.
When noting that Geekie had a career year in 2023-24 and got plenty of chances in Boston’s top six this season, this kind of start has been underwhelming.
With Geekie now being in the final year of his deal, it is fair to wonder if the Bruins could look to move him. This is especially so if their early-season struggles become the norm for the campaign and they find themselves out of a playoff spot nearing the deadline. In this scenario, Geekie could become a rental candidate.

However, even if the Bruins bounce back, Geekie could still create trade chatter if he continues to struggle. The Bruins have limited cap space, and they could consider getting his $2 million cap hit off the books to make other moves elsewhere.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Geekie from here. If he regains his 2023-24 form, it would undoubtedly help his chances of sticking around.
