Barcelona-Real Madrid rivalry extends to basketball with dueling trick shot videos

A Real Madrid player did something cool. And to Barcelona, that just couldn't stand.

Because, you know, a century of rivalry acts as the proxy war for the perpetual strife between the capital of Madrid and the want-away region Catalonia.

Recently making the rounds was video of Gareth Bale making three of five shots in an NBA halfcourt challenge, while sporting a white Miami Heat jersey, a profoundly uncool white headband and emitting several high-pitched whoops.

So, not to be outdone, Barcelona's backup right back Martin Montoya dropped his own shot through a hoop, from roughly the same distance, while wearing a purple T-shirt and a heart-rate monitor that looks like a bra, before casually strolling away. Except he did it … With. His. Foot.

This rivalry has simply gotten too hot, and these teams too good, for the soccer field. It now needs to be fought in some other sport, vertically, with higher goals.
