Bills cult hero and former QB offers $12K donation after NFL fines lineman for penalty

Bills Mafia is alive and well — especially when it comes to defending Josh Allen.

After the Buffalo Bills quarterback crossed the goal line in the second quarter of the Bills' Week 10 game against the Indianapolis Colts, Colts safety Nick Cross appeared to throw Allen down with some extra vigor.

Bills right tackle Spencer Brown wasn't having that and picked up an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for having some choice words with the defensive back, resulting in a 15-yard penalty on the extra point kick — which kicker Tyler Bass ultimately made.

Turns out, the penalty also came with a $12,000 fine.

"An argument/conversation that takes place on a NFL field cost roughly 12k if anyone was curious," Brown posted on X Wednesday.

After Brown Tweeted about his fine, former Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick called Brown's actions "model behavior in fulfilling your duties as an o-lineman and protecting your QB," and said he would send $12,000 to a charity of Brown's choice.

Fitzpatrick doubled down on his defense of Brown, saying "Thanks for providing an example of what a lineman should be!!!"

Former NFL lineman Andrew Whitworth comments on penalty

Fitzpatrick co-hosts a podcast with former Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth, who also defended Brown during their weekly chat Monday.

"I'm okay with what Spencer Brown did," Whitworth said, "And the head coach, what he should say to Spencer Brown in the meeting is 'we did get a 15-yard penalty, it did make a harder kick, but if you wanna send messages about people not touching your quarterback ... we're just okay with it, baby."

This isn't Ryan Fitzpatrick's first offer to pay a fine for Bills player

Earlier this month, Fitzpatrick offered to pay the fine assessed to Bills rookie Joe Andreessen for a penalty he received during the Seahawks game.
