Javawn Brooks, Brebeuf Jesuit: The 6-foot senior came up big in 3A fourth-ranked Brebeuf’s 59-50 win over second-ranked Guerin Catholic with 19 points and seven offensive rebounds. He also had five points and two rebounds in a 78-51 win over Metropolitan earlier in the week.

What We Learned: Brebeuf-Guerin clash, big weekends, fewer unbeatens

Flory Bidunga, Kokomo: The senior Kansas recruit had 18 points, 15 rebounds, four blocked shots and three assists in a 62-39 win over Muncie Central and went for 22 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, four blocked shots and two steals in a 70-51 win over previous-unbeaten and No. 1 Tipton.

Deric Cannady, Cathedral: The junior guard had a 19-point third quarter and finished with 28 points in Cathedral’s 75-35 City tournament semifinal win over Heritage Christian. Cannady was 7-for-8 from the 3-point line. He also had seven points, six rebounds, five steals and four assists in a 82-43 win over Christel House in the City quarterfinal.

Micah Davis, Franklin: The senior guard scored 36 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer, in a 58-55 overtime win over Whiteland. Davis was 16-for-27 from the field, including 3-for-4 from the 3-point line, with three rebounds, three steals and one assist. He then had 26 points (9-for-13 from the free-throw line) with seven assists, five rebounds and two steals in an 81-67 win over New Palestine.

Mason Harvey, Seton Catholic: The 6-8 senior went for 36 points (14-for-25 shooting) and 23 rebounds in a 73-69 win over Cowan. Harvey also had two steals and two blocked shots.

Evan Haywood, Brebeuf Jesuit: The senior guard and Butler commit had 20 points, eight rebounds and two assists in a 78-51 win over Metropolitan and followed it up with 14 points, four rebounds and three assists in a 59-50 win over 3A No. 2 Guerin Catholic.

Chris Huerta, Carroll (Flora): Huerta broke the boys basketball gym record that stood since 1979 with a career-high 46 points in a 74-60 win over Faith Christian. Huerta also set a program record with 11 3-pointers in the win. Huerta’s 46 points also broke the record of 43 points set by Mike Martin against Rossville in 1974.

Devon Lewis, Fort Wayne Canterbury: The senior guard scored 26 points with seven rebounds and five assists in a 68-48 win over Lake Forest Academy (Ill.) in the Culver Academy Classic. Lewis also had 13 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals in a 43-36 win over Culver Academy.

Bryson Luter, Lawrence Central: The senior guard had 12 points, seven steals and six assists as Lawrence Central knocked off Warren Central 60-55. Luter also had 13 deflections and took two charges.

Jake McGraw, Clinton Prairie: The junior standout went for a career-high 40 points with seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in a 73-61 win over Fountain Central.

Jack McKinsey, Greensburg: The junior went for 25 points, nine rebounds and two assists in a 62-53 win over South Decatur.

Sam Mlagan, Bethesda Christian: The senior had 25 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, as Bethesda Christian upset Class 2A No. 9 Park Tudor 55-45. Mlagan also had 18 points in a 56-37 win over Waldron.

Azavier Robinson, Lawrence North: The junior guard scored on an and-1 drive with 12 seconds remaining to give Lawrence North a 62-60 win over North Central. Robinson finished with 25 points in the win for the undefeated Wildcats.

Karson Rogers, Kokomo: The senior had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a 62-39 win over Muncie Central and followed it with 22 points on 11-for-17 shooting with 15 rebounds and four assists in a 70-51 win over Class 2A top-ranked Tipton.

Preston Sims, Northwestern: The 6-6 junior had 32 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots in Northwestern’s 66-65 overtime win over Peru.
