The Cincinnati Bengals made a handful of roster moves on Wednesday, with one providing a big update on one of the training camp's most important positional battles.

Tucked into the roster moves list was the team waiving punter Austin McNamara, meaning just two punters remain in the battle for the right to start next season.

McNamara was by far one of the team's most popular undrafted free-agent signings after the draft with fans. Yet the team recently added Ryan Rehkow near the start of training camp and he is the last one left standing to challenge incumbent starter Brad Robbins.

The move speaks to how both guys have performed. It had previously been unclear how Darrin Simmons might split punter reps between three players during the first preseason game.

Wideout Tre Mosley was also waived, while Cam Sample moved to injured reserve. The Bengals signed defensive end Andre Carter and defensive tackle Joshua Pryor to assist two positions that have had serious injury issues so far in camp.

While Sample is gone for the season, both Trey Hendrickson and Sam Hubbard continue to battle injuries. The day before these roster moves, a rookie on the interior of the defensive line left practice on a cart, too.
