Bears fall to 1-1 with 19-13 loss to Texans

HOUSTON – The Chicago Bears were handed their first loss of the season, falling to the Houston Texans 19-13 on Sunday Night Football.

In his first road test of the season, rookie quarterback Caleb Williams completed 23 passes on 37 attempts for 174 yards and two interceptions.

Williams showed steady improvement from his NFL debut in last week’s 24-17 win against the Tennessee Titans, but he stood little chance dropping back all night long.

The Texans’ pass rush registered seven sacks and 36 pressures on Williams’ 37 pass attempts, which included three combined sacks from Pro Bowlers Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter.

The Bears managed their first offensive touchdown of the season in the second quarter as running back Khalil Herbert found pay dirt to cut into the Houston lead, but the Bears failed to score in the second half.

Wide receiver Keenan Allen was out with a heel injury, while rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze managed to suit up after nursing a sprained knee he suffered in Week 1.

Houston, meanwhile, improves to 2-0 on the season.
