Auburn trustees grant final approval for north end zone videoboard project in Jordan-Hare
AUBURN — Auburn University's Board of Trustees granted final approval Friday for a $25.7 million project to add a videoboard to the north end zone of Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The project will be financed by athletics department funds, per board meeting documents and vice president of planning, design and construction Simon Yendle.
The new videoboard is set to be 47 feet high and 154 feet wide for a total square footage of 7,238. That's approximately two-thirds the size of the existing videoboard in the south end zone, which is the largest collegiate videoboard in the country at 10,690 square feet of LED space.

According to a press release from the athletics department in February, ground is expected to be broken in the summer of 2024 and construction is anticipated to be wrapped up ahead of the 2025 football season. The incoming structure is set to be built in a way to allow for future additions.
"It is intentional, because we are trying to anticipate that there may be some future location for a facility on the north end zone," Yendle said Friday. "The reason that we went with a concrete structure and the size and the location of it is to sort of anticipate any future building that may go there."
Now with final approval, university president Chris Roberts may direct Auburn University Facilities Management to solicit bids and award a contract for construction. Lane, Bishop, York and Delahay Engineers of Birmingham, Alabama, are the project engineers.
