Andy Reid hints at Kadarius Toney playing new position
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kadarius Toney the running back? Maybe so.
The 25-year-old Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver has spent time at the position during training camp.
Head Coach Andy Reid elaborated on the possibility of Toney being hired for a new role in the upcoming season.
“I think that’s one of [Toney’s] strengths, is being able to move him around. He had some positive snaps for us at running back last year,” Reid said.

“I think he enjoys doing that. He’s pretty multifaceted there, with what he can do and we’re gonna try to utilize it to the best of his abilities.
Toney’s struggles were well documented last year as he had issues with drops, but seeing him in a different role could give him a jolt of confidence and make him more effective.
He was traded to the Chiefs during the middle of the 2022 season from the New York Giants in exchange for a third and sixth-round pick.
Toney has shown flashes since being drafted by the Giants in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft but has dealt with injuries and inconsistency.

The Chiefs third running back appears to be up for grabs with Jerick McKinnon still a free agent.
It will be intriguing to see if this is a temporary experiment or a permanent fixture within the Chiefs offense.
