Analyzing Rangers' Red Hot Start To Season

HOW DO YOU RATE THE RANGERS START, IN TERMS OF LOOKING AHEAD? And The Maven's answer follows:

In a word, OPTIMISTIC. That is, on every front goaltending, defense, offense.

Let's start with the crease: I expect an Igor Shesterkin deal very soon. But even if a new contract never happens, the Rangers have him all season; and that's that. Jonathan Quick proved last night in Detroit that he still has the goods. All's well in the crease.

The surprise addition of gifted Victor Mancini means that defense is overloaded with talent – especially with the imminent return of Ryan Lindgren. With promising reserves like Zac Jones, the blue line corps is deeper than ever.

Actually, the same holds up front. Coach Peter Laviolette's offensive roster – even accounting for slumps – is oozing with balance; so much so that even the super-popular Matt Rempe can't bust into the lineup.

As I see it, the Rangers now stand as the best in the East; and should remain so going forward. The Maven racks up the overtime loss to Utah as a mere early-season slip. Traction now is fine.

Bottom Line: Not to worry!
