Boston was drafted as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA draft. In her opening season, she became the youngest player to start a WNBA All-Star game, and went on to unanimously win Rookie of the Year.
Boston is a trailblazer in the new generation of athletes. At the age of 12, she and her sister Alexis moved to Massachusetts from their hometown St. Thomas, USVI to pursue their future in basketball. Aliyah went on to join USA’s national basketball team and became a McDonald’s All-American in high school.
After high school, she played for four years at the University of South Carolina where she led the program to its second national championship.
Boston showcases heart and passion both on and off the field. She is a family oriented and community driven individual whose goal is to consistently give back. This goal is exemplified through her annual girls’ basketball camp on St. Thomas when Aliyah returns to her hometown to grow the game of basketball and give other young girls the opportunity to learn the game as she did.
The Indiana High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.
