Akron RubberDucks: Ducks eliminated by Erie SeaWolves in Game 3 of Division Series

Milan Tolentino lined into a game-ending double play and the Erie SeaWolves recorded a 2-1 Division Series-clinching win over the RubberDucks on Friday in Erie.

The Ducks, who lost the series 2-1, finished the season just one win short of reaching the Eastern League championship series. The SeaWolves advanced to play the Somerset Patriots for the EL title.

With the Ducks trailing by a run, Joe Lampe opened the top of the ninth with a single to left and advanced to second on a bunt by Yordys Valdes. But Tolentino, who hit a game-tying home run in the fifth for the Ducks' only run, lined out to SeaWolves left fielder Chris Meyers, who fired the ball to shortstop Gage Workman to retire Lampe trying to get back to second base.

Trenton Denholm (0-1) started and took the loss, allowing both Erie runs on three hits and five walks with four strikeouts in 4⅔ innings. Alaska Abney, Bradley Hanner and Magnus Ellerts followed Denholm to the mound, and the four Ducks pitchers combined to issue nine walks.

Lampe had two hits, including a double, and Cooper Ingle also doubled for the Ducks.
