On Tuesday morning, the San Francisco 49ers checked the final box of the offseason — extending All-Pro offensive tackle Trent Williams. Early on Tuesday, Williams ended his extending holdout and reported to his first practice of training camp just in time for the start of the regular season.

The Pro Bowl offensive lineman inked a new three-year deal worth $82.66 million, including $48 million at signing and a $25.69 million signing bonus with the 49ers on Tuesday. Williams was initially under contract through 2026.

Following his first practice, the newly coined highest-paid left tackle in the NFL spoke to members of the media in Santa Clara. The 36-year-old spoke about his goal of playing until the age of 40. Williams used former Los Angeles Rams star tackle Andrew Whitworth as a comparison. Williams said he wants to continue to break down barriers at the offensive line position while continuing to play at an All-Pro caliber late into his career.
