The San Francisco 49ers are back in the Super Bowl for the second time in four years, and their sustained success is a product of building a roster fit to last.

The 49ers have gone to four NFC championship games in the past five seasons with general manager John Lynch providing coach Kyle Shanahan with the perfect mix of homegrown talent (Brock Purdy, Nick Bosa and George Kittle), trade acquisitions (Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams) and free agent signings (Javon Hargrave and Charvarius Ward).
