49ers RB Christian McCaffrey OUT vs. Jets

The San Francisco 49ers announced running back Christian McCaffrey is out for their season opener against the New York Jets.

McCaffrey was listed as questionable with calf and Achilles injuries. The reigning Offensive Player of the Year expressed confidence he'd play against New York, but he was listed among their inactives for Week 1 after missing all of the preseason with the ailments.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the injuries aren't new, and that McCaffrey has been battling them since Week 17 of last season.
