2024 MLB playoffs: Everything you need to know about Guardians schedule, bracket, seeding

CLEVELAND — The playoff field is set.

The Guardians will be the No. 2 seed in the American League playoff bracket, finishing the regular season 92-69 when Sunday's finale was rained out. It meant Jose Ramirez had to settle for a 40/39/39 season.

The Guardians will have five days of rest between Sunday and the beginning of their postseason. Manager Stephen Vogt discussed the idea of rest versus rust due to the Guardians getting a bye through the wild card series.

Who do the Guardians play in the 2024 ALDS?

The Guardians will await the winner of the three-game wild card series between the No. 3-seeded Houston Astros and the No. 6-seeded Detroit Tigers.

The No. 4 Baltimore Orioles will play the No. 5 Kansas City Royals. The winner of that series will play the top-seeded New York Yankees.

The MLB regular season ended Sunday, Sept. 29. The postseason begins Tuesday with the wild card series.

When do the Guardians play in the 2024 playoffs?

The Guardians are scheduled to open their playoffs Saturday, Oct. 5, at Progressive Field with Game 1 of the ALDS against either the Houston Astros or the Detroit Tigers. Game 2 is slated for Monday, Oct. 7.

  • Wild card: Oct. 1-3, best-of-three series

  • ALDS: Oct. 5-12, best-of-five series

  • ALCS: Oct. 14-22, best-of-seven series

When is the 2024 World Series?

The World Series is scheduled to begin Friday, Oct. 25, with Game 2 the next night. Games 3-5 are scheduled for Oct. 28-30. If necessary, Games 6 and 7 are Nov. 1-2. Fox will televise all World Series games.
