2024-25 media day: As training camp opens, Rockets answer key questions

The Rockets held their annual Media Day on Monday, Sept. 30 inside the team’s home arena of Toyota Center in downtown Houston.  Rafael Stone, general manager of the Rockets, and Ime Udoka, head coach, kicked off a series of podium interviews in a press-conference format.

From there, players including Fred VanVleet, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Jabari Smith Jr., Alperen Sengun, Steven Adams, Tari Eason, Amen Thompson, Cam Whitmore, Reed Sheppard, Aaron Holiday, Jae’Sean Tate, Jeff Green, and Jock Landale all took questions from a group of credentialed team reporters.

Courtesy of a team, here’s a complete video compilation of all 15 interview sessions, which took place over a span of two-plus hours on Monday afternoon. The interviews began with Stone reacting to the recent death of NBA legend and Hall of Fame center Dikembe Mutombo, who played five seasons in Houston in the mid-to-late 2000s. Those years overlapped with Stone joining the organization.

As for the 2024-25 squad, training camp for the new season opens Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the team’s new training center and practice facility. Preseason play starts Monday, Oct. 7, with an exhibition at Utah, while the regular season begins on Wednesday, Oct. 23, with a home matchup versus Charlotte.

Houston (41-41) enters its new season with considerable momentum, since its 19-win improvement relative to the previous year was the largest annual jump for any NBA team.
