1 goal for every Tennessee Titans key offensive player, from Will Levis to DeAndre Hopkins
It's about time for the Tennessee Titans to put it all together. Which leads us to two simple questions: How, and in what ways?
The Titans report for training camp on Tuesday, beginning the seven-week sprint to the start of the 2024 season. It's barely an exaggeration to say half of the team that reports this July will be first-time Titans. Fifty of the 113 players and coaches on roster today weren't with the team at the end of last season. That includes 15 of the roughly 30-35 players who could win a starting job when the season starts on Sept. 8 in Chicago.
With so many new faces in so many important roles, virtually no one on the Titans can head into training camp expecting their role to be the same as it was a year ago. Every significant player on roster should have a goal for how to get better, best fit in a new scheme or develop alongside new teammates.
REBUILD STORY: Tennessee Titans copied NFL's best rebuild stories in 1 crucial way, and it should pay off
This week, The Tennesseean outlines one goal every potential Titans starter should have this training camp, starting today with offensive players.
Tennessee Titans offensive skill player goals
QB Will Levis: Make rhythm the No. 1 priority, ensuring the offense flows smoothly from play call to snap to execution and everyone clearly and distinctly knows their role.
RB Tony Pollard: Become more effective as an early-down pass catcher, especially when it comes to running after the catch.
RB Tyjae Spears: Improve as a first- and (especially) second-down runner to allow for a true situation-less rotation between he and Pollard.
RB3: Replacing Derrick Henry doesn't end with Spears, Pollard: Tennessee Titans search for RB3
WR DeAndre Hopkins: Find ways to move around the formation more and get more involved as a slot option.
WR Calvin Ridley: Eliminate any doubts about rust after so much missed time and return to playing shape, form from 2019-20.
WR Tyler Boyd: Prove role in Brian Callahan's scheme is transferrable without stars Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins carrying so much weight.
WR Treylon Burks: Stay healthy enough to get a chance at earning receiver and kick return reps.
TE Chig Okonkwo: Recapture explosiveness running after the catch that flashed in 2022.
TE Josh Whyle: Solidify role as a top red zone pass-catching option, particularly in the middle of the field.
Tennessee Titans offensive linemen goals
OT JC Latham: End any doubts about ability to play on the left side by moving smoothly and confidently.
OG Peter Skoronski: Use bigger frame, year of experience to make jump from guard-in-training to hyper-productive interior lineman.
C Lloyd Cushenberry: Stonewall Jeffery Simmons in practice when possible to prove potential of being NFL's best pass-protecting center.
OG Daniel Brunskill: Compete for starting guard job while also proving ability to be backup center if necessary.
OT Nicholas Petit-Frere: Re-seize starting role by showing consistency, health aren't issues after missing most of 2023.
OG Saahdiq Charles: Show pass protection isn't a concern to earn starting job.
OG/OT Dillon Radunz: Use versatility to advantage, competing for multiple starting and swing lineman roles.
OT Leroy Watson: Build on pre-existing relationship with Bill Callahan to earn biggest role of career, either as swing tackle or starter.
