The Wildly Popular Costco Frozen Lasagna I Wish I Tried Sooner (I Totally Get the Hype!)
I’ve been a Costco member for over 13 years. I’ve worked my executive membership so that every year I get cash back just for buying the groceries I rely on every week, cleaning supplies that keep my home sparkling, and gas that keeps my car fueled up at a discount.
I’m so used to scouring the aisles, I often tell myself that I’ve tried everything Costco sells. But on a recent visit, I did a slow creep down the freezer aisle, taking curious looks into other members’ carts. Many of them held the same product, which made me realize that there is one freezer find that I had yet to try — Kirkland Signature Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna. After tasting this Costco-favorite frozen Italian dinner, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t purchased it sooner.
What’s So Great About Kirkland Signature Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna?
Since lasagna is one of the best freezer meals out there, I often make a double batch when I’m cooking it from scratch. One pan is cooked that day, and another heads for the chill chest. Kirkland Signature Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna is exactly what I’m looking for when I haven’t had the time to make the layered pasta myself. It has three layers of tender noodles sandwiching a rich tomato sauce made with Italian sausage and ground beef, and creamy ricotta cheese. The mozzarella on top bakes up bubbly and golden for a homemade look that nobody would guess comes from the freezer.
The lasagna goes from freezer to oven, so there’s no thawing required, and is ready in just over an hour. (You can also cook it in the microwave and have the piping-hot casserole ready in half the time.) Costco sells two 3-pound trays of this lasagna for $16.99; that’s just $8.50 per lasagna. Each pan of lasagna easily feeds six people, so there may not be a better deal from Costco’s freezer.
What’s the Best Way to Serve Kirkland Signature Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna?
Kirkland Signature Italian Sausage and Beef Lasagna is a complete dish as-is, but I always serve extra bolognese sauce on the side or warm up a cup of store-bought jarred marinara. Homemade garlic bread or garlic knots are classic sides for serving with lasagna, along with a pan of garlicky broccolini or a bowl of crunchy Jersey salad.
