Hayley Hufendick and her partner have been renting this 1,000-square-foot townhome in Denver’s City Park neighborhood for just over two years. “Our home is a vibrant tapestry woven from the threads of our lives — my partner, our very evil little angel cat named Gustav, and me,” Hayley begins. “Nestled in a beautifully updated 1886 building on the lively 17th restaurant row, we’ve created a cozy haven that’s as eclectic as it is inviting. With 10-foot ceilings, exposed brick, and original hardwood floors, each corner tells a story, reflecting our unique design styles.”
“We made a deliberate effort to blend our aesthetics—my penchant for dark academia and vintage pieces meets my partner’s love for playful, maximalist decor. The result? A delightful mix of animal prints, industrial lamps, and rich colors paired with bright, unexpected patterns. Each piece we’ve chosen carries history and meaning, whether it’s a quirky thrift find or a cherished heirloom,” Hayley continues.
“In our space, there are no design rules; instead, we embrace whimsy and comfort, crafting a playful atmosphere that invites creativity and conversation. Living here makes it easy to socialize, with restaurants just steps away and the farmers market and park nearby. It’s the perfect blend of coziness and vibrancy—just like Gustav, our little feline overlord, who rules the roost with a mischievous flair. Our home is a sanctuary where every detail brings joy, making it a true reflection of who we are.”
“My best decorating advice is to never be afraid to take risks and make mistakes. Your space should be a unique reflection of who you are, not a cookie-cutter version of current trends. Focus on the items and decor that you’re naturally drawn to — those pieces that make your heart sing or spark joy,” Hayley explains.

This historic loft came with restrictions on paint and remodeling, so this renter "embraced creative, nonpermanent solutions, like playing with textures, statement pieces, and utilizing the built-in shelving to craft a homey atmosphere without altering the architecture."
“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers,” says the heroine in L.M. Montgomery’s book “Anne of Green Gables.” Throwing your own Halloween party is a great outlet for getting creative with the season, and it doesn’t have to be all monsters and mayhem (though that's fun). There are themes that bring a party mood and style to the table and the room, while still evoking Halloween’s mystery.
A vintage ceiling fixture hangs in the great room while Franco Albini lounge chairs sit on the floor. Other notable pieces in the room include shearling ottomans from Moses Nadel, a wooden side table by Dan Pollock, and a custom area rug by Torrey for Stark. The great room is also furnished with Murano glass drum pendant lights and a concrete dining room table by James DeWulf.
A working fireplace is a common characteristic of many farmhouse living rooms. A stone fireplace adds a warm, cozy feel to this spacious room designed by Bruce Fox, the founder of Bruce Fox Design in Chicago. If you love farmhouse style but are drawn to neutral furniture pieces, you can incorporate those into your living room design too, as exemplified by this space designed by Kristin Harrison of Bungalow 10 Interiors in Northern Virginia.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Kamala Harris went to a Philadelphia suburb on Wednesday night for a CNN town hall, where she faced questions from undecided voters. The event was arranged after Donald Trump declined to participate in a second debate with her.
At TV market Mipcom, Ramin Setoodeh, Variety‘s co-editor-in-chief, spoke on Wednesday about how Donald Trump’s public persona was forged by reality TV series “The Apprentice,” and how it is that “character” who is running for the U.S. presidency today. Speaking in a session inspired by his New York Times bestseller “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald …
The US and NATO on Wednesday confirmed that hundreds, possibly thousands, of North Korean troops have been deployed to Russia, raising fears they are headed to fight in Ukraine. Experts warn it could backfire, as their exposure to the outside world and realization they will serve as “cannon fodder” may spur what Kim Jong-un fears most: defections. "There is evidence that there are DPRK troops in Russia," US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin said on Wednesday, for the first time confirming an October
HALIFAX — Halifax police say a 19-year-old woman who died in a Walmart bakery on Saturday was found in a large, walk-in oven when first responders arrived at the scene in the city's west end.
Nearly 50 years after the cold case murder of a 19-year-old who went missing from her Illinois village, authorities have identified her killer through new DNA evidence.
Donald Trump’s campaign strategy of insulting swing-state cities was on display again Wednesday while talking about Detroit, Michigan. “For 40 years, I’ve been hearing about ‘Detroit is coming back.’ Never came back,” he told a Georgia audience. The attack on the Motor City follows one on the same target just two weeks ago. Addressing members of the Detroit Economic Club, Trump argued that Vice President Kamala Harris would turn America into Detroit if elected.
