You may remember Betsey Johnson’s signature out-there style being the envy in your high school hallways, her plaid, tulle and patterned designs only rocked by your hippest friends. But there’s a new collaboration between the designer and plus-size retailer Torrid, and it launches today.
Curvy shoppers know well the wish to wear brand names, but the inability to find it in their size. Pretty & Punk, the theme behind Torrid’s latest capsule collection, is the answer, bringing the designers vintage ‘80s creations to 200 store locations and online for Canadian customers.

“I’m the lucky one,” Johnson told WWD. “Torrid wanted to team up with me. I was happy to hear that the Torrid team wanted to try out ‘Me’ in their stores — the true blue Betsey. My biggest supporter — Liz [Muñoz] the CEO [of Torrid] — grew up knowing and wearing clothing she created inspired by my stuff and made the collaboration happen.”
“She just gets me.”
The line features 63 pieces from apparel and intimates, ranging in sizes 10 to 30, to jewellery, bags, footwear and more.
