Canadian influencer Alicia Mccarvell hits back at criticism her husband 'deserves better' than her: 'So unoriginal it hurts'

Alicia Mccarvell isn't holding back when it comes to her critics. On Monday, the Halifax-based content creator shared a video to social media highlighting some of the hurtful and rude comments she receives about her marriage to Scott Mccarvell.

The video, set o the Dennis Steven Wright singing, “You’re a dumba—," features screenshots of comments from men using a popular Gen Z expression to suggest the couple is a random pairing, and that Scott was somehow forced to marry her, because of their size differences.

“Bro married his 3rd @,” some of the comments read, while another states, "Bro deserves better he had to marry his 5th @ for free Wifi and a mansion.”

Tackling the cyberbullying head-on, Mccarvell added a biting retort at the end of her video, noting, "Boys are so unoriginal it hurts."

The 34-year-old reflected on the irony of her situation in the post’s caption, writing, “The same boys who call me names and tell me to get into the gym, are the ones that make fun of me for being in one.”

In the comment section, Mccarvell’s message garnered applause from fans for standing up for herself.

“I’m so proud of you for getting to the gym. I am struggling with getting to the gym, but I have been sharing with all of my clients about you talking about trying out different exercise things, like it’s dating,” an Instagram user commented.

“They just hate what you’ve got — quite probably one of the purest and happiest relationships on this app,” someone else chimed in.

“I’m raising two boys and the day they ever leave a comment like this would be the day I failed as a mom,” a fan wrote.

“I can smell all of their receding hairlines from here. Mandatory therapy for all of them, please,” another quipped.

This isn't the first time Mccarvell has addressed online trolls for shaming her weight and her marriage. Back in February 2023, she posted another revealing Instagram post to "set the record straight" about the negative commentary she sees, particularly concerning her physique compared to her husband's.

Mccarvell shared some of the hurtful messages she has received, such as "Girl, he's cheating on you," and "He's too out of your league," to spotlight the prejudiced attitudes prevalent in society.

"These are the things that society thinks about fat people who are in relationships with partners who are smaller or fitter than them. This is the reality — the cruel reality," she penned.

Mccarvell challenged societal norms and encouraged a broader acceptance of diverse body types, writing, "I want to set the record straight: our relationship isn’t the problem, society is. Your relationship isn’t the problem, society is. You are worthy, your love is valid, and society can pound sand, while you pound each other.”
