Natural deodorants come at notoriously steep prices, and though Beautycounter's new Clean Deo is no different — it's regularly priced at $37 — I've found it to be more than worth the buy.
Refills ring in at $24, which is a little closer to the price of most natural and organic deodorants on the market, but not having to worry about odour, staining or irritation may help justify the purchase.
At the beginning of February, New Beauty recorded Jennifer Garner congratulating friend and founder/CEO of Beautycounter, Gregg Renfrew, on creating “a natural deodorant that actually works."
“To my incredible girlfriend Gregg Renfrew — congratulations,” Garner said. “This is the best all-natural deodorant I have ever tried."
Her announcement came at the right time, during the gear-up for summer, and fortunately so has Beautycounter's Friends & Family Event.
For a limited time only, you can get 15 per cent off products site-wide — or 20 per cent off when you spend $250 or more.
In other words, there couldn't be a better time to get your Clean Deo on sale.

The Clean Deo spent years five years in the making to ensure that you can say goodbye to the toxic relationship you have with your antiperspirant and hello to fresher, cleaner, healthier pits forever.
With an Innovation by Design Award from Fast Company under its belt, the Clean Deo is also the most Instagrammable deodorant you've ever met. It comes in three charming shades of pink that align with the scents available; Clean Rose (Garner's favourite), Soft Lavender and Fresh Coconut.
Though I'd normally go for a deodorant that's more on the floral/fruity side, I opted for the Fresh Coconut and surprisingly, adore the scent. Its tropical fragrance is subtle, but the enticing blend of coconut, sandalwood, and sweet vanilla sticks around all day long.
Made without aluminum, it glides on smoothly without leaving white residue behind on your skin or your clothes. Personally, I've had no troubles with it staining either.
For heavy sweaters and those with sensitive skin, the Clean Deo is a great option too. Mixed with non-GMO cornstarch and baking soda to keep wetness at bay, nourishing coconut oil and shea butter, and hydrating candelilla wax and beeswax, its extremely gentle on the skin.

Though it can take several weeks for your underarms to purge the toxins that are trapped in your sweat ducts by antiperspirant, you might experience a (temporary) odour when first using the Clean Deo (like any other natural product).
That said, the results are still impressive. Based on the average rating from a 115-subject consumer study done over the course of two weeks, 85 per cent of users said the Clean Deo neutralized underarm odour while 90 per cent said it absorbed perspiration.
In addition, 96 per cent said it goes on dry and clear, and 100 said its non-irritating. Plus, by making the Clean Deo refillable, Beautycounter reduced its water use, fossil fuel use, and greenhouse gas emissions by half.
Basically, using the Clean Deo is a quick way to get fresh and eco-friendly fast. No stains, no problems either.
